Linder knife blanks

Linder, Soligen, Germany has been in business for over 200 years and the name is synonymous with the highest quality.

A popular blade for high end Bowie knifes, it measures 15.5 inches full length and the blade is 9 inches, with 440 degree stainless steel and tang thickness is 3/16 inch. You can get a sheath for the knife but it has to be specially ordered.

Sheffield knife blanks

Sheffield, England is an area rich in iron ore and soon developed into a main center for metal trade. Manufacture of knives began as far back as the 17th century. Sheffied knife blanks are symmetrically forged and easy to use. The pattern on the main grind does not have the tendency to resolve into a straight line like any other stock removal blade does.

Norwegian Laminated knife blanks

These knife blanks are forged by a Scandinavian specialist in Norway. The knivblad is made of carbon steel core and are clad in soft iron. The tapered tips are heat treated with extra sharp edges. When teamed up with the Scandinavian curly-grained birch wood it gives the knife a very attractive finish.

Damascus Knife blanks

Damascus steel invented in the Middle East is used to make Damascus knife blanks. Though not the same as the original Damascus steel they are similar in appearance and the knife blanks are strong and sharp as the ancient swords made with Damascus steel.

Damascus knife blanks are characterized by the following:

  • Ripples and bands are actually carbides that are precipitated out in sheets; the carbides strengthen the steel in the blanks.
  • When the edge falls on a dark band you get a cutting edge of immensely strong and sharp proportions
  • The blade is flexible yet will not break

Also, some people forget to keep their knife blades sharpened which is not only important to you, but the knife as well.
